Second Largest Mega Millions Jackpot of $648 Million – First Winner Come Forward to claims half of jackpot From Georgia

A 56-year-old married woman Ira Curry, has won half of the second-largest Mega Millions jackpot in U.S. history. Curry’s half of the cash option comes to $173,819,742.50, before federal taxes (25%) and Georgia taxes (6%), officials said. Georgia Lottery chief executive Debbie Alford said Curry, who has so far stayed out of the spotlight, plans to take the lump sum payout, a cool $123 million after taxes.
The final jackpot amount for the Dec. 17 drawing was $648 million, just shy of the Mega Millions record of $656 million, set on March 30, 2012. The cash value of Tuesday’s jackpot was $347.6 million.
The Mega Millions winning numbers are 8,14,17,20,39 the Mega Ball number is 7 and the Megaplier is 4X.

Curry bought her winning ticket in Atlanta at a Gateway Newstand in the lobby of an office building near the city’s Buckhead community; the other ticket was sold in San Jose, California, lottery officials said, who has yet to be identified.
California state lottery rules say a retailer can receive 0.5 per cent of the winning prize or up to $1 million, leaving Thuy Nguyen, the owner of Jenny’s Gifts in San Jose, with the hefty bonus. But over in Atlanta, Young Soo Lee, who runs a newsstand in the Alliance Center in Buckhead that sold the second winning ticket, will receive nothing, in accordance with Georgia law.
