The huge jackpot is a return to form for Powerball for its record-breaking jackpots in recent years. The new Powerball lottery jackpot total has reached an earth shattering $500 million with an estimated cash value option of $337.8 million. The Powerball drawing Wednesday evening was the third-largest in Powerball history and the fifth-largest jackpots in U.S. history.
Three lucky ticketholders in North Carolina, Texas and Puerto Rico won the estimated $500 million ($564,100,000 to be exact) U.S. Powerball lottery jackpot on Wednesday, the Powerball website showed.
According to the Texas Lottery, one of the winning tickets was sold at an APPLETREE FOOD MART (893, E) in PRINCETON (Zip code:75407), which is located about 50 miles northeast of Dallas. The other winning ticket was sold at A Convenience store in Shallotte, a coastal town just north of the South Carolina border, Lottery officials in North Carolina said. A Shell station in southern Puerto Rico was potentially $100 million richer on Thursday, winning a share of a $564.1 million Powerball jackpot — the first winner outside the continental United States.
The three gamblers can select a lump-sum cash payout or opt to take annuity payments over 29 years, before taxes. Should the winners select the lump sum option, each would get a one-third share of $381,138,450.16 before taxes. The jackpot goes back to $40 million for the next drawing, which takes place on Saturday.
Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, February 11, 2015 are 11, 13, 25, 39, 54. The Powerball number is 19.
