Winning tickets for consecutive Mega Millions jackpot of 22nd July sold in Gainesville

There are now back-to-back winners of the Mega Millions jackpot as two lucky ticket holders won the $15 million prize for the drawing held on Friday, July 22, 2016. Those two tickets, which were bought in West Virginia and Georgia, will split the estimated $15 million jackpot ($7.5 million each).

The Virginia ticket was bought at 7-Eleven, 7489 Limestone Drive in Gainesville, was one of two nationwide that matched all six number in the July 22 drawing. This is Virginia’s ninth Mega Millions jackpot win. The other ticket was bought in Georgia.

This marks the fifth Mega Millions jackpot won this year, following winnings on January 8 ($169 million, New York), March 8 ($157 million, Washington), July 8 ($536 million, Indiana) and July 19 ($25 million, Washington).

It’s only the sixth time in the game’s history that the jackpot has been won in back-to-back drawings, and the first time that has happened since May 25 and 28, 2010.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday, July 26 is estimated to $15 million with a cash option of $10 million.
